Welcome to the Sunday Gathering recap (songs, hymns, liturgy and sermon). This blog gives you an opportunity to reflect on what you heard in the gathering or catch up if you weren’t able to be with us.

EZEKIEL - The Call of Ezekiel

CALL TO WORSHIP

Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.

Oh, how we love your law! We meditate on it all day long, your commands are always with us.

How sweet are your words to our taste, sweeter than honey to our mouths!

Your word is a lamp for our feet, a light on our paths. (Based on Psalm 119:89-105)

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

We've already heard that God's word is sweeter than honey, a lamp to our feet. In Psalm 19, David describes God's word as precious, more precious than gold. Yet if we take a moment to reflect, how often do we treat it that way? Do we really see it as precious? As Christians we really believe God's word is living and active and that when we read it, God meets with us in it.

Take a moment to reflect now, to confess to God the ways you may neglect his word, or diminish it's power in your life.

Father God, we confess that we don't treat your word as we should. Instead of spending time in it, we pour our time and energy into so many other things. Help us to listen to you in your word and live out lives of obedience to you. Amen.

Even though we may not be faithful, God continues to show his faithfulness to us. In Christ, God showed the lengths he was willing to go to save us from our sin.

PASSING OF THE PEACE

PREACHING OF THE WORD

Tom Thrower preached to us this week on the call of Ezekiel from Ezekiel 2 &3. Click here to listen to that sermon.

COMMUNION

Every week we want to respond to what God has done for us in Jesus. One of the great ways he has provided for us to remember the truth of the gospel is giving us communion. As we take the bread and wine we remember what Jesus has done for us.

POST COMMUNION READING

Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

We rejoice that You have died, rose again, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: See His Love

COMMITMENT READING

Heavenly Father, help us to delight in your word, meditating on it day and night. Would we be like trees planted by streams of water, yielding our fruit in season and whose leaf doesn't wither.

By your Spirit, meet us in your word, that we may be competent and equipped for every good work. Help us to listen to your word, obey your word and share it with those around us. Amen.

(Based on Psalm 1:3 & 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
