This blog gives you a glimpse into the upcoming Sunday Gathering. It's an opportunity to read through the passage we'll be studying together, pray through some of the liturgy we'll be using, and listen to a selection of the songs we’ll be singing

MICAH 6

SERMON

This week Brad Balmer will be preaching from God’s word to us from Micah 6.

LITURGY

CALL TO WORSHIP

I will sing of the Lord’s great love for ever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm for ever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

The heavens praise your wonders, Lord, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings? Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?

You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

(Psalm 89:1-8)

 MUSIC

  • Rock of Ages (Dustin Kensrue): A song that sings of God as our rock and refuge who can always be depended upon.

  • Everlasting God (Brenton Brown):  A song of praise that speaks of God’s unchanging character and his faithfulness to us.

MICAH 5:7-15

CALL TO WORSHIP

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation will tell of Your works to another; they speak of Your mighty acts and proclaim Your faithfulness.

Together, we celebrate the glorious splendour of Your majesty—and we will meditate on Your wonderful works. We tell of the power of Your awesome works—and we will proclaim Your great deeds.

We will join with all generations as we celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.

(Psalm 145:3-7)

Song: This I Believe

Song: I Stand Amazed

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Even though we've experienced God's saving power in our lives we still choose to love other things before Him. We exchange the glory of God for worldly things. We orientate our lives around possessions, status, security. We love ourselves instead of God and centre lives on our pleasures and reputation. God tells us in his word that we've exchanged the truth about God for a lie, we've worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator. We love so many other things before God, the one who has given us everything and place our trust in them. Take a moment to reflect on that, to reflect on where you put your trust and what you centre your life on. To confess your sin before God and seek his forgiveness. Whilst we were still sinners, Jesus died for us, he took the wrath of God upon him for our sin, for our rebellion and yet we can now know freedom and salvation because of him. Let's ask for God's help as we continue to sing to him now.

Song: Lead us Back

PASSING OF THE PEACE

PREACHING OF THE WORD

Tom Ingleby preached to us from God’s word this Sunday from Micah 5:7-15. To listen to that sermon click here.

COMMUNION

Every week we want to respond to what God has done for us in Jesus. One of the great ways he has provided for us to remember the truth of the gospel is giving us communion. As we take the bread and wine we remember what Jesus has done for us.

POST COMMUNION READING

Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

We rejoice that You have died, rose again, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: The Power of the Cross

Song: See His Love

COMMITMENT READING

Heavenly Father we ask that you would help us to bring your light into our homes, work places, families and friendships. Would our relationships be life-giving rather than joy-sapping.

Help us to be a blessing to those around us and boldly share the gospel with the people you have put in our lives. Equip us as we seek to act against injustice and oppression in our city, living lives that demonstrate the gospel to a watching world. Amen

Song: Mighty to Save

BENEDICTION

Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Peace be with you.

And also with you.

  • Mighty To Save (Hillsong): A song that reminds us that Jesus is mighty to save and a call to share that hope with the world around us.

  • Lead us Back (Sojourn):  A song of confession that speaks of the idolatry in our hearts and pleads for God to lead us back to life in him.

MICAH 4:9-5:6

CALL TO WORSHIP

Sing joyfully to the LORD, it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Praise the LORD and make music to him. Sing to him a new song!

For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.

(Psalm 33:1-8)

Song: All Creatures of our God and King

Song: Indescribable

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

God tells us in his word that we were once alienated from him, cut off and separated by our sin. Without him we are weak and broken. God invites us to bring our weakness to him. Take a moment to reflect on that now, to confess the sin that separates you from him. The truth of the gospel is that God didn't leave us as we were, hear this truth about our identity in Christ now:

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

(Ephesians 2:13)

We can now know forgiveness for our sin and relationship with God. Let's sing out with joy in light of that truth together now!

Song: How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

Song: In Christ Alone

COMMITMENT READING

Brothers and sisters, let us not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

So let us fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

(2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Song: New Again

BENEDICTION

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Peace be with you.

And also with you.
